Rev. Bishop Rufin Anthony ordained Coadjutor Bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese
Rawalpindi: September 21, 2009, (PCTV Newsdesk)Rev. Rufin Anthony, former Vicar General of the Diocese of Faisalabad was nominated Coadjutor Bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. On 4th August 2009.
Today 21st September, 2009 was ordained Bishop during Mass concelebrated by all the Bishops of Pakistan, presided by H. E. Archbishop Adolfo Tito C.Yllana, Apostolic Nuncio in Pakistan.
The Mass started at 11.00 a.m. with a procession with many priests from all over Pakistan. Over 2000 people: Sisters, Brothers and faithful participated in the solemn ceremony, organized with great love by the Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi.
Everything took place in a very serene and sacred atmosphere.
The Nuncio explained the role of a Bishop as Pastor, teacher and guide in loving service to the people entrusted to him.
Rev. Bishop Rufin Anthony chose as his motto the Word of Jesus: “That all men be one.” He said that his priorities are the as the Church: “bring people closer to God and closer to each other.”
The whole ceremony was a witness of the unity of the Catholic Church in Pakistan and its unity with the universal Church of God.
