Publication of 55 Propositions of Bishops Synod (October 2008, Vatican) in Urdu, the national language of Pakistan
Lahore, Pakistan: December 28, 2009, (PCTV Newsdesk)Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) in collaboration with Theological Institute for Laity (TIL) has recently published the Urdu translation of 55 propositions of 12th. Bishops Synod which was held on October 5-26, 2008 in Vatican on the theme of “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church”. This translation is being published in a book form.
The 55 Propositions has been translated in Urdu by Fr, Siddique Patras OFM Cap with especial assistance and editing by Fr. Emmanuel Asi, Executive Secretary of CBCP. The publication of this book also includes the intervention Archbishop Evarist Pinto, Chairperson of CBCP, which he made during the Bishops Synod. Fr. Aftab James Paul contributed a detailed foreword as introduction to the Bishops Synod while Fr. Emmanuel Asi has written a meaningful background to the nature of Bishops Synod.
The 55 Propositions are subdivided in three parts. After an introduction the First part is on the theme of The Word of God in the Faith of the Church. The theme of the second parties The Word of God in the Life of the Church while the third part is about The Word of God in the Mission of the Church. The Conclusion is focused on Mary as mother of God and Mother of Faithful.
Talking to Pakistan Christian TV reporter Fr. Emmanuel Asi highlighted the importance of 55 Propositions in Urdu saying that it will provide information about global Church to the local Church in Pakistan. It will animate and propagate the centrality and importance of the Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church. The Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan, Fr. Emmanuel Asi explained, will invest a lot of zeal and efforts to ensure that these Propositions are put in practice in the Church in Pakistan.
The book will be solemnly launched on 29th. January during four days Bible Animators Training Sessions to beheld in Karachi on 28-31 January 2010. Archbishop Evarist Pinto will preside over this launching ceremony. This program is being conducted with the background of and as implications of 55 Propositions. This Program is being organized by CBCP for the representatives from the Dioceses of Karachi, Quetta and Hyderabad. A similar program will be conducted in June 2010 at Theological Institute for Laity (TIL) for the Dioceses of Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Islamabad-Rawalpidi.
