PCC Central Council approves nomination of Xavier William as Joint Secretary

Pakistan Christian Congress PCC Central Council met here today to discuss the current political situation of Pakistan and expressed dismay on silence of government of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy law.

The PCC Council decided to send memorandums to MQM, ANP and JUI(F) to raise issue in joint meeting of coalition partners in present government to adopt serious measure to end violence against Christians by repealing blasphemy law.

Morris Sadiq, Secretary General of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC issued a press note after meeting announcing approval of nomination of Mr. Xavier William as Joint Secretary of Council.

The Council members also finalized program of 2nd phase of “All Parties Christian Conference to End Blasphemy law” in Karachi in January 2010, after successful PCC hosted Conference in Rawalpindi on October 25, 2009.

PCC Council passed a resolution to repeal blasphemy law and term such controversial law a threat to religious harmony in Pakistan.

PCC leaders condemned statement of Minority Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti in meeting with German MP claiming that Christians are enjoying full right in Pakistan.

Mr. Morris said that Christians are treated like 2nd class citizen of Pakistan and blasphemy law is being used as weapon to kill innocent Christians.

PCC Council expressed confidence in leadership of Dr. Nazir S Bhatti and appealed him not to come back to Pakistan until government not withdraws all false cases of treason against him.
