What Gift To Give Jesus For Christmas? (Nelson S. Alfred)
Merry Christmas and May we continue to celebrate his goodness in our lives. I encourage you to ask God the gifts he has for you for Christmas and for 2010 and what you would like to give him. On the night Jesus was born, the angels announced "peace on earth." But today in Jerusalem there is no peace. The streets are filled with nervous voices repeating the latest news and fearing for the future.
There has never been a time when Whole humanity has needed a true commitment of its faith more than it does today, as we are living in Matthew 24 days. Working together, we contribute our knowledge, skills and compassion to the benefit and shared prosperity of all who inhabit this earth. Together we unite our voices and stand firm so that every Canadian can live with dignity.
Greetings in this season of anticipation and joy and joyous New Year!
The season of Advent, the period of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of Christmas is a time to reflect on the successes of the past year and to rejoice in our long term achievements. But many of us ask how we take part in this rejoicing when so much poverty and injustice still exist, even within our own communities. Like you, we recognize where God is working, and stay faithful amidst difficulties, continuing to work

Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual celebration for Christian who commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25, Although this date is not known to be Jesus' actual birthday. Christmas is central to, as this marks the beginning of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts twelve days.
It is interesting to note, that, although traditionally a Christian holiday, Christmas is also widely celebrated by many non-Christians, and some of its popular celebratory customs have pre-Christian or secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, music, an exchange of greeting cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations; including Christmas trees, lights, garlands, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly. In addition, Father Christmas (known as Santa Claus) is a popular mythological figure in many countries, associated with the bringing of gifts for children
The Massive Commercialization in the shape of gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians. Hence the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. And this economic impact of Christmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past few centuries in many regions of the world.

The word Christmas originated as a compound meaning "Christ's Mass". It is derived from the Middle English Christemasse and Old English Cristes mæsse, a phrase first recorded in 1038.[6] "Cristes" is from Greek Christos and "mæsse" is from Latin missa (the holy mass). In Greek, the letter ? (chi), is the first letter of Christ, and it, or the similar Roman letter X, has been used as an abbreviation for Christ since the mid-16th century.[13] Hence, Xmas is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas.

An other beauty of Christmas among countries with a strong Christian tradition, is a variety of Christmas celebrations have developed that incorporate regional and local cultures. For many Christians, participating in a religious service plays an important part in the recognition of the season. Christmas, along with Easter, is the period of highest annual church attendance and Christians celebrate Christmas in many ways. In addition to this day being one of the most important and popular for the attendance of church services, there are numerous other devotions and popular traditions. Prior to Christmas Day, the Eastern Orthodox Church practices the Nativity Fast in anticipation of the birth of Jesus, while much of Western Christianity celebrates Advent. The final preparations for Christmas are made on Christmas Eve.

Over the Christmas period, people decorate their homes and exchange gifts. In some Christian denominations, children perform plays re-telling the events of the Nativity, or sing carols that reference the event. Some Christians also display a small re-creation of the Nativity, known as a Nativity scene or crib, in their homes, using figurines to portray the key characters of the event. Live Nativity scenes and tableaux vivants are also performed, using actors and animals to portray the event with more realism.
What gift to give Jesus for Christmas as we all know the magi gave gifts to Jesus on the first Christmas according to common tradition of giving presents to many family and friends and they give gifts to us – it’s a wonderful tradition. But in the midst of all our Christmas festivities we may forget that its Jesus’ birthday we’re celebrating. How are we giving him a present.
The best gift could be going against the current of our crazed culture and give the gift of spending some quiet time with Jesus as your First Love.

“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) is the Word of God to us.

Jesus himself prayed in quiet solitude regularly. “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (Luke 5:6). And he invites us to join him in, to be still in prayer with him: “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest” (Mark 6:31).
Jesus enjoys being with you! Do you enjoy being with him? Perhaps you feel antsy or jittery about being still? Maybe when you’re quiet your mind races with thoughts of things you need to do?
Little-by-little as we practice getting alone with Jesus to be quiet and still we can get beyond our restlessness and racing thoughts. If we train with Jesus we can learn to settle into the peace of the Lord that is beyond our comprehension and guards our hearts (Philippians 4:6).

As we rest with our Good Shepherd in his green pastures of grace and beside his still waters we discover that it’s really true: “He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:1-3).

Most of our ways of celebrating Christmas today are noisy and busy. But in many ways the first Christmas was celebrated in quiet and stillness. How about giving Jesus a Christmas present of spending some time just being with him in quiet prayer?
Other gift could be adoring heart to Jesus for Christmas:
We all have a nativity set in your home. If so sit beside it quietly and take in the miracle of Christmas, thanking God for sending Jesus. Imagine that you’re Simeon. He had been in the temple waiting and praying for the Messiah to come. When Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus into the Temple he was ready! He took the Christ child into his arms, smiled warmly, held him close, and gave praise to God (Luke 2:28). In prayer, enjoy holding Jesus as Simeon did!
We all can set aside five minutes in quiet solitude (ideally in the morning) for centering prayer. Mary received the Messiah into her womb by praying: “Let it be to me according to your Word” (Luke 1:38). To grow in Mary’s humble trust “center down” in her prayer of submission. When your mind wanders gently call it back to the Scripture. Breathe the words in and out – slowly, deeply, over, and over. One-by-one offer to God your concerns as you repeat this prayer. Then as you go about your day whisper your breath prayer as often as you can remember.

Third could be, as the wise men rode on donkeys across the quiet lonely desert for months in order to bring their gifts to the Christ child. Most of us spend time alone driving in our cars. This is a great opportunity to practice silence and solitude. Try turning the radio off. Just talk to Jesus. Imagine he’s sitting next to you and have a conversation with him.
WE all know the husband of the cousin and father of John the Baptist Zachariah spent nine months in silence anticipating the birth of Christ! (Luke 1:20). How about spending a few hours to be quietly alone with Jesus? What a wonderful gift this would be for Jesus and you. Save Bible study or book reading for another time. This special time is for you and Jesus simply to enjoy being together. What would you like to do with Jesus? Take a walk? Go to the beach? Visit a monastery or a retreat center? Sit down in a favorite spot in your house or yard? Talk with Jesus and listen to him. Smile at your Friend. Tell him you love him. Thank him for his goodness. Be still – together! You may want to use a journal to help you pray.

The Christmas has variations about (Inderias Dominic Bhatti)

The Christmas has variations about:

Its time;

Its traditions;

Its leaders;

Its preaching;

Its linkage;

With paganism;

And many more;

These may be doubts and/or conspiracies;

But its is a time;

When God’s passion;

Became flash;

Lived with us on Earth;

In Love of God;

He shared Love;

Unconditionally;

And inclusively;

To the broken;

Isolated;

Deprived;

Social excludes;

And built a religiosity;

Of physical togetherness;

Based on LOVE;

And not guilt and feeling of sinfulness;

And thus brought;

A living passion on earth;

A spirit of Christmas;

And left behind;

His spirit to us;

To hold it firmly;

And to move on with it;

Being beyond from any;

Doubts and conspiracies!!!

May God continue to bless you, your families, our Church, our country and our planet with all the worldly and divine sanctions on this Christmas and forever!!!

Love and Compassion - Christmas 2009 (Fr. Emmanuel Asi)

The earthly life of Jesus is framed between two great events. He was born in the Crib at Bethlehem and died on the Cross at Calvary. Both these events give birth to the two great dogmas of Christian faith i.e. Incarnation of God and death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. These two Christian dogmas are the main pillars and theological pillars and doctrinal foundations of Christian faith.

Christmas has a two fold message. On the one hand we celebrate the memory of the birth of Jesus Christ at Bethlehem and on the other hand with regard to our lives and society we reflect on meaning and relevance of this doctrinal dogma of God becoming human in Jesus Christ. Certainly, lives of Christian believers find their meaning and fullness while reflecting on the meaning of this great event, dogma and theological truth.

Christmas reveals some basic and valid truths about God’s love and compassion for the human history and society. Christmas is another name for living in a family and community as willed, planned and desired by God. It is only in communion and relationship i.e. life lived in love and solidarity with others, that we discover unlimited possibilities and meaning to become more human and on the ‘image of God’

Christmas means that human heart can not live in massive poverty of isolation, hatred, oppression, terrorism and exploitation. Christmas is to live in peace with God and fellow human person. Christmas is practice and experience of living in solidarity with those who, because of our social and cultural standards, are deprived and marginalized.

Christmas is a guarantee of fullness of life in love. It is a manifestation that God never abandons and forsakes humanity. From the outset of history God has  intervened and interfered in human history. God, because of love and compassion, comes in our daily life to deliver and redeem, to save and love.

The message of Christmas 2009 is that first we ought to learn to accept and experience the love  and compassion of God in the event of Birth of Jesus Christ and be grateful and happy about this experience. Secondly on the ‘likeness’  of God we ought to be more compassionate, forgiving  and loving towards each other and especially towards to the poor, oppressed, exploited and the destitute.

May the blessings and graces of Christmas be upon you, your families, relatives, friends and country. May the peace and joy of Christmas be with you.

Happy Christmas (Sehrish Kanwal)

My Dear Christian Fellows,

I wish you a Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year. More important is that during christmas time many chrsitians like to celebrate nights while drinking wine & involving in vulgar acts. Remember our Jesus is holy & He wants to see us Holy & pure. His heart is never pleased with us if we do such things.

So do celebrate christmas delightfully but in a holy way. Stay blessed.

Regards

Sehrish

Merry Christmas (Apostle John Fonzer)
How fitting that we should celebrate the greatest gift this world could ever receive:  Jesus the Christ!  Oh that the world would receive Him with gladness.  And oh how good it would be if we who did receive Him would share Him.  There is more than enough of Him to share!

Merry Christmas to you all.  May 2010 be record-breaking in the number of souls added to the Kingdom.

Pops message for advent (Simon)

In Advent, Christians relive a dual impulse of the spirit:  on the one hand, they raise their eyes towards the final destination of their pilgrimage through history, which is the glorious return of the Lord Jesus; on the other, remembering with emotion his birth in Bethlehem, they kneel before the Crib.

The hope of Christians is turned to the future but remains firmly rooted in an event of the past. In the fullness of time, the Son of God was born of the Virgin Mary:  "Born of a woman, born under the law", as the Apostle Paul writes (Gal 4: 4).
